The agreements for using Java District as a developer.
These terms apply to everyone who has a developer account on Java District. Java District is a trade name of Software District B.V. (KvK 94813167), Johan Huizingalaan 763a, 1066 VH Amsterdam. In these terms, we refer to it as “we” or “Java District”.
By creating an account, you agree to these terms. You can read how we handle your personal data in our Privacy Policy. Companies are subject to separate terms for hiring partners.
Java District is a career platform for Java and JVM developers. You create a profile, discover companies and job openings, and can match and chat with companies looking for developers (our hiring partners). In the Dev-Hub, we also offer content such as a salary benchmark, blogs, and events.
We connect developers and companies. We are not a party to any job application or employment contract.
We cannot guarantee that you will get a match, interview, or job through the platform.
Job openings and company profiles are posted by hiring partners themselves. They are responsible for their content.
Insights such as the salary benchmark are indications, not guarantees.
You must be 16 or older to create an account.
Your account is personal. You create one account and do not share your login details with anyone.
You fill in your details truthfully and keep them up to date.
You choose a strong password. Think someone else has access to your account? Let us know right away.
If you log in via Google, LinkedIn, or GitHub, that service's terms also apply.
You decide whether your profile is visible to hiring partners. If you are visible, hiring partners can view your profile and show interest. A chat conversation can only start after a mutual match.
Please note: if you are visible, in principle any hiring partner on the platform can see your profile. That could include your current employer. Keep this in mind when deciding what to put in your profile.
Java District is free for developers. We do not charge for your account, for matches, or if you find a job through the platform. The platform is paid for by the hiring partners.
You use Java District for your own career, in an honest and respectful way. You may not:
put incorrect or misleading information in your profile, or impersonate someone else;
use the platform as a recruiter, agency, or intermediary, or to recruit on behalf of others;
send messages that are intimidating, discriminatory, offensive, or unsolicited commercial messages (spam);
copy, collect, or distribute outside the platform any data of others, such as companies, job openings, or messages;
automatically read out (scrape), hack, or overload the platform, or spread malicious code;
post content that is unlawful or infringes the rights of others.
Everything you post yourself, such as your profile, CV, and messages, remains yours. You give us permission to store that content, show it to hiring partners according to your visibility settings, and use it to make the platform work, such as for matching. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups, which we erase after a short period (see our Privacy Policy).
You guarantee that you have the right to post this content.
After a match, you chat directly with the hiring partner. You make arrangements about applications, salary, or a job directly with the company. We are not a party to this and are not responsible for a company's recruitment process or decisions.
Hiring partners may only use your data for their own recruitment. Notice that a company is not complying with this? Let us know.
Do you come across content or behavior that violates the law or these terms, such as a misleading job posting or an inappropriate message? Report it via info@javadistrict.eu. Describe what it concerns and why you are reporting it.
We assess every report carefully and without undue delay. If necessary, we may remove or hide content, restrict features, or temporarily or permanently block an account. If we take action against your account or content, we let you know what action and why. Disagree? You can object via the same email address, and we will review it again.
We do our best to keep Java District working well and securely, but we cannot guarantee that the platform will always be available without interruptions or errors. We are continuously developing the platform and may add, change, or discontinue features.
You use Java District free of charge. We are not liable for:
the content of job openings and company profiles of hiring partners;
decisions or conduct of hiring partners, such as in an application process;
damage caused by the platform being temporarily unavailable.
This does not apply if the damage results from intent or deliberate recklessness on our part, or if the law does not permit a limitation of liability.
You can delete your account at any time, in your account settings or via info@javadistrict.eu. What happens to your data after that is described in our Privacy Policy.
If you do not comply with these terms, we may restrict or block your account. Except in cases of serious misuse, we warn you first and tell you why.
We may change these terms, for example when the platform or the law changes. We will notify you of important changes at least 30 days in advance by email or via the platform. If you do not agree, you can delete your account before that date.
These terms are governed by Dutch law. Have a complaint? Please contact us first, and we will work with you to find a solution. If we cannot resolve it, you can go to the competent court. You always retain the protection that the consumer law of your country of residence gives you.
